My Trip to the Impound Lot Ok, so it's not as fun as you'd think it is. I've received very friendly notes from my neighbors about my car alarm continuously going off at random times. They include: "Fix your car alarm! It's been going off for 2 hours! [.... in a different pen writter later, I'm assuming]. It's been going on for 2 DAYS!!" "You need fix your car alarm asap!!!!" "Can you PLEASE fix your car alarm!" "Your alarm is constantly going off!! Fix your alarm or do NOT park on this block!!!!" Wow, a lot of exclamation points! In my defense, though I should've taken it to a car shop asap, I monitored my car for 2 separate days and NOTHING. HAPPENED. Today, I received 16 missed calls from my roommate and 2 from an LAPD officer. My musical car has taken a trip to the impound lot (yeppie!). After a long bus ride and 10 blocks of walking, I've rescued my car from jail with a hefty $180 fee that was paid to some very unfriendly people. Luckily, that was made up by the owner of the auto shop opposite of the street that fixed the $120+ problem that the dealership estimated without costing me a dime. My payment was humiliation in a strange combination of opening the door, closing the door, going in the car, out of the car, opening the window, closing the window, starting my car, stopping my car, turning on the lights, turning off the lights, etc. Well, at least it's fixed. Plus my friend (and the mechanic) thought it was amusing. I guess a little walking and a $180 fine isn't so bad after all... |
